A few local views, we are surrounded by spectacular hiking and biking trails,
golf courses and other recreational facilities.
Biking: The Missisquoi valley rail biking
trail runs for 26.4 miles from Richford in the North, past our club to St Albans
Bay in the South. Most of the trail is for novice and intermediate
cyclists with a maximum gradient of 3% and only non motorized vehicles are
permitted to use it.
In Franklin County there are 27 trails and routes
to explore on foot or by bicyle.
Golf: Enosburg Country Club is an 18
hole course just 10 minutes from our gate. The club is situated in rolling hills
and you can usually find Maple Glen club members on the course. There are also
three other golf courses within a thirty minute drive from our club.
Come join a foursome and have a great time!
Hiking: Every mountain in Vermont has a
hiking trail, Jay Peak, Mount Mansfield and Smugglers Notch are probably the
best known recreational areas, however good hiking trails criss-cross all of
Northern Vermont and numerous water holes exist.
We have a resident trekking afficiendo at Maple Glen, he would be delighted to show you some of his
favourite spots.
Covered Bridges:
There are six covered bridges in Montgomery county 30 minutes North East of us
and seven more thirty minutes south of our club.
Most of these bridges date from the late
1800's but have been restored in recent years and are accessible by car. The
scenery in the immediate vicinity of these bridges is nothing short of
spectacular.
Fairfield Pond:
Fairfield Pond is a lovely mountain lake just 5 minutes from our boundary, one
of its tributaries flows through Maple Glen to fill our pond.
Bring your canoe and go exploring or fishing
or just wade into the water on the sandy public beach. Lake Carmi, a Vermont
state park is also nearby.
Motorcycle
Rallys and Antique car shows: Events
are held every two weeks at the Pine Cone, a snack bar about 20 minutes away on
route 105 towards Richford.
